Jakob completed a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Film Production from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He also earned a bachelor of arts from Southern Methodist University in May of 2012, graduating with honors with majors in Film and Media Arts and English-Creative Writing. Although writing has become less of a focus in his life, it remains an important form of artistic communication for the aspiring filmmaker.

Jakob has worked on a number of fiction and non-fiction films, including documentary short on Dr. Bill Beauchamp, professor of French Language and Literature at Southern Methodist University entitled Stuck in Motion and a documentary short entitled Nowhere Land, which is about the town of West, Texas. He has worked in all phases of production, with special emphasis on post-production and directing. His is currently in post-production on a short documentary film entitled Legacy of Love, which also serves as his thesis project for his Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of North Texas.
